1. A time domain reflectometer (TDR) for making impedance measurements on a powered transmission line cable system. The TDR is particularly useful for measuring impedance discontinuities on a powered Ethernet system. A negative test pulse is provided to ensure that any positive reflections do not exceed the upper voltage limit of the transceivers.
2. An optical time domain reflectometer that injects at least two complementary code sequences into an optical fiber (26) and detects the return signal produced by each of these code sequences. These return signals are processed to extract the function hk that is equal to the response function for the fiber when a single pulse is injected into the fiber.
3. A time domain reflectometer transmission line interface includes a pulse driver for generating a transmitted pulse signal. A coupling transformer coupled to the pulse driver couples the transmitted pulse signal to a transmission line and receives a reflected pulse signal from the transmission line.
